November is here and this means lots of grey and dark days. I made it a mission to add a couple of brighter fall make to my Fall wardrobe. For this look I decided to create Anne Klein’s Vogue 1509.
For the top I used Chagall Stretch Printed Crepe – Calico in Plum. For the pants I used Colored Stretch Denim in Rust. They are available in many colors! I pre-treated both fabrics prior to constructing those garments. For the polyester crepe, I machine washed using the delicate cycle and allowed the fabric to air dry for a couple of hours. I also machine washed and dried the denim. Both fabrics came out unaltered from the pre-treatment.
Vogue 1509 is a great pattern to create a relax fit outfit for the women on the go. Making it in those warm fall colors was a great decision I think. This pull over tunic has unique details such has a front and back yoke, a mock welt pocket, a front pleat and a concealed button closing. The pants are semi-fitted and have a fly-front. It comes with a welt pocket but I decided to skip that detail. This pattern is quoted “Average” which means it is not an easy project. I decided to use the full lenght of the sleeves and skipped the rolled sleeves look.
The fabrics were fun to work with overall. The crepe fabric has some stretch and made it a little tricky to hem. My machine acted a little crazy while sewing the button holes. I followed the pattern instructions which suggested to fold the fabric over twice. I should have stabilized the placket with sew-on interfacing (I know better)!!! The denim was very easy to work with!
I decided to style this outfit by wearing a plum bag and cognac boots. These accessories made the look more cohesive.
I really love this look and need to recreate this relax but chic outfit in other color combinations! It makes me happy to finally add separate to my wardorbe. I’m not consistent at sewing those and it is a big gap in my closet.
