A Trendy Floral Dress for Spring
April 13, 2024
by Sara Dagenais

Some of this year’s Spring fashion trends include floral patterns and neutral tones. I was inspired by Fabricville’s new collection for my latest project.

The pattern

I chose the McCall’s 7925 pattern, it caught my eye because of the floral dress on the cover. But I also love a good shirt dress, and this one has raglan sleeves, a ruffled skirt panel and beautiful piping details for a little something extra.

The fabric

This light weight rayon linen fabric has an ultra soft hand and a fluid drape. The minute I saw it I knew it was the one! It was easy to work with and gave the perfect structure to my dress.

The making of

This pattern is fun and easy to make. It was the first time I used piping for a dress but it was quite simple to sew with a zipper foot. I did not alter the pattern apart from shortening it by about 3 inches due to my short stature, and I added a few extra buttons to avoid gaping. I cut a size 16 according to the finished garment measurements and I knew it would be fitted, snug even. So I am glad for those extra buttons!

Conclusion

I really love the look and feel of Fabricville’s linen and linen blend fabrics. My projects always turn out beautifully and this one was no exception. I am very pleased with my new Spring dress and hope to get a lot of wear out of it!

Thank you for reading and happy sewing!
