Every year, I look forward to the arrival of the Fall fabric collections. This year, the Monsoon rayon twill collection caught my eye and the foulard print in green and navy blue was instantly my favorite. Right away, I wanted to make it into a long shirt to wear with skinny pants and long boots.
This fabric’s small green print on a navy background is an easy way to incorporate this pattern into my wardrobe. Since this rayon twill has such a nice drape, it would also make a wonderful shirtdress. Funny story, I thought the background of the fabric was black until I tried to pick coordinating buttons. Let’s just agree to say that it’s a very dark navy, almost black!
I selected the Burda 6908. I modified it slightly to have a slimmer silhouette and I added a back yoke.
Overall, this project was an easy one, even with the few pattern modifications that I included. To preserve the beauty of this fabric, let me offer this piece of advice: use extra-fine needles to pin your fabric, and follow the care instructions to the letter. If you are unsure of how to care for any fabric, at all times, simply ask one of the Sales associates at the cutting tables. They will be more than happy to help you.
Happy sewing!
