My first real love in the DIY world was sewing, and it continues to be one of my favorites. I just love the humming that the sewing machine makes, ahh! It is such a comforting sound. Another thing I like is comfortable clothing that travels well.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1023 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1dc0-249x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"249\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1dc0-249x300.jpeg 249w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1dc0-849x1024.jpeg 849w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1dc0-755x910.jpeg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1dc0.jpeg 2002w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 249px) 100vw, 249px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I chose to make this Tunic or Top from <a href=\"http:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=m7413\">McCall&#8217;s (M7413). <\/a>A Nancy Zieman pattern that is well designed, with clear instructions, and helpful tips from Nancy, which makes this an enjoyable project.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1029 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_4939-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_4939-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_4939.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The fabrics I chose are Crepe Knit Coordinates in Floral-Grey\/Red\/Black <a href=\"http:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=LR439020\">LR439020<\/a>, Black <a href=\"http:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=LR439004\">LR439004<\/a>, and Red <a href=\"http:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=LR439002\">LR439002<\/a>. Excellent materials to make clothing that keeps their shape, and minimizes wrinkling.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1024 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1dcb-300x270.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1dcb-300x270.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1dcb-1024x922.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1dcb-755x680.jpeg 755w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the tips I appreciated and included in the pattern is to reinforce the shoulder seams with some interfacing. \u00a0Something I too recommend when sewing knits.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1020 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1da7-233x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1da7-233x300.jpeg 233w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1da7-796x1024.jpeg 796w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1da7-755x971.jpeg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1da7.jpeg 1082w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 233px) 100vw, 233px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The tunic I made is long enough to cover my &#8220;assets&#8221; lol. \u00a0Although\u00a0I measure just over 5 feet, so I did make some adjustments in the length of the body pattern pieces before I cut anything.<\/p>\n<p>Remember this one rule &#8220;Measure twice, cut once.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1027 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1e24-169x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1e24-169x300.jpeg 169w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1e24.jpeg 390w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 169px) 100vw, 169px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To maintain the fabric&#8217;s integrity I used <a href=\"http:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=30171\">ball point sewing machine needles<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=3010220\">ball point pins<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another tip I like is the use of Fray Check to anchor those threads at the end of seams. \u00a0It prevents unraveling.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1026 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1def-219x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"219\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1def-219x300.jpeg 219w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fullsizeoutput_1def.jpeg 467w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 219px) 100vw, 219px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I ordered all the supplies online, and I was a bit nervous\u00a0until I received the package. \u00a0I am delighted at the beauty and quality of the materials. \u00a0The site&#8217;s pictures are accurate, and I will not hesitate to order from Fabricville.com again. \u00a0P.S. Eeek! \u00a0And I am not used to taking pictures that are the full height\u00a0of someone, let alone myself. \u00a0I usually photograph smaller items in a better lit area. \u00a0At this time of year, I have little natural lighting to work. \u00a0I apologize for that.<\/p>\n<p>I hope that you too can find as much self-satisfaction\u00a0in sewing as I do.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Ann is a creative addict\u00a0who loves to sew, and make stuff.\u00a0 Which gives her the perfect excuse to hoard fabrics, and supplies.\u00a0 Her home is bursting at the seams (pun intended), with all the projects she has made and the supplies she has collected for future projects.
