My name is Sara and I am very excited to join the Fabricville Blog community!<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Like many of you, I am already deep into my summer sewing, having completed quite a few dresses. I realized that my wardrobe was missing a layering piece for the cooler days\/evenings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2850 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/FullSizeRender-1024x765.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"765\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/FullSizeRender-1024x765.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/FullSizeRender-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/FullSizeRender-755x564.jpg 755w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I have been wanting to make the <a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/b6390-misses-button-down-jacket-with-bust-pockets-size-14-16-18-20-22.html\">B6390<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=gertie\">pattern by Gertie<\/a> jacket for quite a while. I found the perfect fabric for my project: the <a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/8oz-denim-laundered-bleached-indigo.html\">8 oz Bleached Indigo Laundered Denim<\/a>, and decided on a cotton for the lining from Fabricville\u2019s summer collection: the<a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/susannah-printed-cotton-birds-flowers-white.html\"> Susannah Printed Cotton \u2013 Birds &amp; Flowers \u2013 White<\/a>. I love this beautiful print, it has a nice vintage look that compliments the style of the jacket.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2852 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/P1240303w.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"783\" height=\"864\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/P1240303w.jpg 783w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/P1240303w-272x300.jpg 272w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/P1240303w-755x833.jpg 755w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 783px) 100vw, 783px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This pattern was really fun and easy to sew and came together quite quickly. I love working with stable fabrics such as denim and cotton because they do not distort after cutting and everything always lines up perfectly!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2867 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/P1240298w-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"913\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/P1240298w-1.jpg 750w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/P1240298w-1-246x300.jpg 246w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I made the following adjustments for fit:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I chose size 14 according to the finished garment measurements printed on the pattern.<\/li>\n<li>I made a 1 \u201c swayback adjustment.<\/li>\n<li>I shortened the sleeves by 1.5\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>I omitted the top collar button because I honestly would never button it all the way up, and I find the collar looks nicer without.<\/li>\n<li>I only used interfacing for the collar since the fabric was stable enough.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Items featured in this project:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/b6390-misses-button-down-jacket-with-bust-pockets-size-14-16-18-20-22.html\">Butterick 6390 Misses&#8217; Button-Down Jacket with Bust Pockets<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/8oz-denim-laundered-bleached-indigo.html\">8 oz Bleached Indigo Laundered Denim<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/susannah-printed-cotton-birds-flowers-white.html\">Susannah Printed Cotton \u2013 Birds &amp; Flowers \u2013 White<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/sewing\/sewing-notions\/fasteners-and-accessories\/unique-jean-buttons-no-sewing-antique-17mm-6-pcs.html\">UNIQUE SEWING Jean Buttons No Sewing &#8211; Silver &#8211; 6pcs. &#8211; 17mm (\u215d&#8221;)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2855 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/P1240346w.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"621\" height=\"864\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/P1240346w.jpg 621w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/P1240346w-216x300.jpg 216w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 621px) 100vw, 621px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I am very pleased with my jacket, it has a nice weight to it without being too warm.<\/p>\n<p>I hope everyone enjoys their summer and especially their summer sewing!<\/p>\n<p>Until next time!<\/p>\n<p>Sara<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello fellow sewists!
