I am back to share another classic fall project with y&#8217;all. Blazers are such a great transitional piece and as it gets colder, it is time to make one. I had a couple of challenges during this project and I will be sharing those, along with some tips to consider if planning a similar project.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3619 \" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0401-814x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"359\" height=\"452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0401-814x1024.jpg 814w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0401-238x300.jpg 238w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0401-755x950.jpg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0401.jpg 1628w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 359px) 100vw, 359px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Fabric Details &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/bayley-yarn-dyed-suiting-houndstooth-black-white.html\">Barley Yan Dyed Suiting<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>This houndstooth fabric was so gorgeous and soft when I received it, I just wanted to hug it all day. It is 80% Polyester, 18% Viscose, and 2% Spandex. Great for flowy dresses, tops, and skirts. However, it was much more lightweight than I expected, which was my first little challenge. I was initially planning to use it to make View A coat of Burda 6463 but had to slightly change those plans. For the lining, I used black polyester.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/burda-6463-ladies-coat.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3613\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/b6463-envelope-front-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"245\" height=\"245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/b6463-envelope-front-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/b6463-envelope-front.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 245px) 100vw, 245px\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/bayley-yarn-dyed-suiting-houndstooth-black-white.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3614\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Screen-Shot-2018-11-20-at-9.30.46-PM-298x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"247\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Screen-Shot-2018-11-20-at-9.30.46-PM-298x300.png 298w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Screen-Shot-2018-11-20-at-9.30.46-PM.png 481w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 247px) 100vw, 247px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Pattern Details &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/en\/burda-6463-ladies-coat.html\">Burda 6463<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>This pattern is features a semi-fitted coat (View A with pockets) and jacket (View B with welt pockets). With View A not feasible due to the weight of my chosen fabric, I decided to make a blazer instead which seemed more appropriate. I used the length from View B but the pockets from View A. There were 15 pieces for this pattern which is quite a lot in my opinion, especially for a semi fitted jacket.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3618 \" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0371-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"495\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0371-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0371-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0371-755x425.jpg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0371.jpg 1680w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The instructions were very clear however, it involved a lot of hand sewing in the installment of the lining. Anyone who knows me knows i like to keep hand sewing to a minimum. This is mainly because I do not think my hand sewing skills give my projects the clean finish I desire so it was another fun challenge for me. Next time, I will use a different method to insert the lining to reduce the amount of hand sewing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3619 \" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0401-814x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"453\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0401-814x1024.jpg 814w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0401-238x300.jpg 238w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0401-755x950.jpg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0401.jpg 1628w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Overall, it was worth it in the end but I am not entirely sure I will be making this specific pattern again. Below are some helpful things to consider:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fabric choice is important to make this pattern especially for View A &#8211; stick to tweed and other medium\/heavy weight fabrics<\/li>\n<li>This pattern is not for beginner sewers. I will recommend sewing a few easy jackets first before diving into this.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3622 \" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0410-809x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"358\" height=\"453\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0410-809x1024.jpg 809w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0410-237x300.jpg 237w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0410-755x956.jpg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0410.jpg 1618w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 358px) 100vw, 358px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I styled my blazer with a turtleneck top I made and a pair of jeans.
