Hello fellow sewists,<\/p>\n

Fall is my favorite season because it is not too hot, not too cold and simply beautiful during foliage. I was looking forward to creating a new coat for this weather, but could not decide between a classic coat or a cape. I then realized I owned the perfect pattern : Simplicity 1016 by Mimi G. It has patch pockets with buttoned flap, optional belt & removable cape with collar & epaulettes. I was so inspired in fact, I decided to replicate the color palette used on the pattern envelope.<\/p>\n

For this, I purchased an off-white boiled wool<\/a> coating paired with and ivory satin lining, both available on the Fabricville website in many different colors.<\/p>\n

The instructions were easy to follow and what is great about this pattern is the video tutorial by Mimi G available on YouTube. The project came together nicely with no alterations needed. Because I used boiled wool which is heavier than the recommended fabric, I omitted the interfacing to reduce bulk, and it came out fine without.<\/p>\n

I love that this coat can be worn with or without the cape, or you can simply wear the cape on its own!<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed working with these fabrics and am very pleased with my coat! It is modeled here by my beautiful sister-in-law Olga.<\/p>\n
