I was craving flowers, on this beautiful summer day. I got very inspired by this fabric. The need for a classy but breezy dress came upon me. I opted for the Rosie dress, by Sew Over It, a British indie brand that specializes in vintage looking patterns.<\/p>\n

This dress is therefore meant to look like it came straight out the 1950’s. I made version one, with the lovely collar and wide straps.<\/p>\n

It has a boned bodice, that I crafted with Rigilene boning. I do not recommend Rigilene for this project, as in the end it was not sturdy enough. I also lined this dress with a pink cotton, picking on the contrasting colours of the flowers. The skirt is very interesting, comprising of a box pleat at the front. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really show on the pictures.<\/p>\n

The difficulty in this pattern resides in the collar placement, the centering of the box pleat and the zip at the back. Therefore, I would recommend it to a confident beginner or intermediate level sewist.<\/p>\n

This fabric was a joy to work with, it is stable but soft. It did not shrink in the wash either. I think the fabric to pattern association was bang on with this one! It is indeed created to showcase these types of fabric:<\/p>\n
