Ok, sure, there is ice, mud and slush, and I don\u2019t love that.\u00a0 But it also brings about the first signs of spring, and with it, my dream of a freshly sewn wardrobe with bright colors and florals. March recharges my sewing brain for the new season ahead.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This spring is all about bright! As I scrolled through social media, I was seeing bright colours and florals everywhere.\u00a0 I wanted to find a fun floral for pants and a bright top to get me into the spirit of the new season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8424\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3599-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3599-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3599-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3599-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3599-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3599-755x1007.jpg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3599-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<h5>Jalie 3911 Tank Top in Rayon Challis<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This bright orange caught my eye on the Fabricville website in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/search?q=ld3311*&amp;type=product\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rayon Challis &#8211; Germaine &#8211; orange<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 (psst, it also comes in a host of other bright colours so be sure to search for your faves).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I really wanted to pair the rayon challis with a pattern that would allow the drape of the fabric to show, so I went with one of my all-time favourite companies &#8211; Jalie.\u00a0 The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/products\/jalie-pattern-3911-michelle-tanks-and-dress?_pos=1&amp;_sid=cf4595002&amp;_ss=r\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jalie\u00a0 3911 Michelle<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tank fit the bill.\u00a0 The pattern has dress and tank options, and has instructions for a double-layered tank to make for easy finishing and eliminating any worries of undergarment show-through with semi-transparent fabrics. I went with 2 metres of the challis to make sure that I had enough to do the double layer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8427\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3496-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3496-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3496-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3496-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3496-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3496-755x1007.jpg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3496-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0I love Jalie for their drafting and predictable fit, and I\u2019m sure I will be using this pattern many times over. Fabricville&#8217;s printed <a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/search?q=ld3106*&amp;type=product\">Lydia Stretch Sateen in Floral Navy<\/a> caught my eye.\u00a0 I love the combination of navy and orange, and the navy will pair with so many other spring colours such as apple green, hot pink and beautiful pastels.\u00a0 The stretch in this sateen adds comfort to the pants and makes fitting a breeze (not that these required a lot of fitting with the loose fit of the trousers).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8428\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3507-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3507-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3507-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3507-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3507-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3507-755x1007.jpg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3507-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pants pattern I used was <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/products\/burda-6436-trousers-pants-culottes-wide-leg-964360?_pos=1&amp;_sid=28a8e8f73&amp;_ss=r\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Burda 6436<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> . This pattern features a front zip and I used a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/search?q=unique%20no%20sew%20hook*&amp;type=product\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">no-sew hook and bar set <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is a quick and easy way to add a top closure to fly-front pants.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pattern has front-angled pockets (which I use constantly) and back welt pockets (which I skipped &#8211; I never use them and they wouldn\u2019t show up as a design feature in this busy print anyway).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8426\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3619-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3619-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3619-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3619-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3619-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3619-755x1007.jpg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_3619-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They feature wide front pleats for comfort and wearing ease and come in full and cropped lengths.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I decided to go with the cropped length and was able to make the pants from 2 metres of the sateen with careful pattern placement (though next time I would order 2.5 or 3 metres just to be safe).
