The shacket is a shirt warm enough to be a jacket, which makes it an ideal layering piece for Fall. This style is very trendy at the moment and I was looking forward to making my own version.<\/p>\n

The fabric<\/strong><\/p>\n

I knew I wanted a plaid fabric. At first I thought of using a lighter fabric lined with sherpa, but when I found this coating from the new Fall collection I knew it would be the perfect fit.<\/p>\n

The pattern<\/strong><\/p>\n

I decided to go with Butterick 6916 because it more closely resembles a shirt rather than outerwear. I really wanted an oversized warm button up shirt. This pattern is unisex and all kids and adult sizes are included. I cut a medium based on my measurements.<\/p>\n

The making of<\/strong><\/p>\n

I really took my time with this one, I wanted my plaid matching to be perfect and symmetrical. I unfortunately did not have enough fabric to match the facing pieces, so when the collar is open you can see the difference, but it is not that noticeable. I found the perfect wood-like buttons to match! This was a simple make, not more difficult than a regular shirt. Although I did have some trouble with the thickness of it in certain areas, my sewing machine had some issues.<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n

Overall, I am very happy with the final product. It came out exactly how I imagined!<\/p>\n
