A happy new year from all of us at Fabricville. We wish you a year filled with fun sewing projects. Now that the holidays are over, I invite you to kick back and indulge in soft and luxurious loungewear.

What is loungewear? Any and everything that is easy to wear, relaxed and comfortable. The kind of clothes that we wear during the weekend and that we don’t want to give up on Monday mornings. To hang out at home, what’s better than to wrap ourselves up in warm and comfortable clothes. Loungewear is perfect to have a date with the sofa to watch a movie or read a good book.

Off-duty dressing usually involves easy and comfortable layers like supersoft tees, hoodies, henley shirts, tunic tops, jogger pants and leggings. This year, we can find loungewear in neutral colours such as grey, black and navy as well as pastels and fun colourful prints. Comfort is the only rule to loungewear!

I’ve assembled there a few examples to illustrate the latest loungewear trends for men, women and children.

For my loungewear outfit, I decided to sew a pair of joggers and a sweatshirt. These are two simple but very comfortable clothing items!

For the pants, I’ve chosen the Vanessa fluid pants pattern from Jalie. This sewing pattern is extremely well designed and easy to sew. For the fabric, I’ve chosen one of my favourite fabrics, the Winter Jersey. This pattern is a must if you like comfortable and versatile pants. I can see myself making many more pairs!

The pattern for the top is Burda 6406 that I’ve decided to sew in SOFTEE French terry. I like this sewing pattern because it is extremely easy and quick to sew.

This great bobbin organizer consists of six trays that hold securely five bobbins each, for a total of 30 bobbins. The six stackable trays are made of a flexible plastic that secures any type of bobbin. I like this bobbin tower because it keeps my bobbins neatly organized and it lets me see all of my thread colours at a glance.

Proper pressing is essential to achieve beautifully finished sewing projects. All the good seamstresses will tell you that we probably spend as much time pressing than sewing! This pressing tool has a double purpose. On one side, it’s a point presser. It is the ideal tool to open seam with your iron, for collars and facings. On the other side, it’s a tailor’s clapper. It is very useful to flatten seam in bulky fabrics such as melton and denim.

This magnetic pin caddy bracelet adapts to all wrist sizes. It’s the ideal accessory to keep your pins nearby while you’re sewing.
