Washer and tumble dry with heat.)(The Sateen washed well with minimal shrinkage. The Stretch Gauze washed well, but the trip in the drier caused a lot of shrinkage.)(More about that later.)<\/p>\n<h3>Sewing the Bottoms<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">My chosen pattern, (Jalie Eleonore pull-on jeans) is designed for a woven fabric with 20% stretch.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9302 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/front-cover-of-Eleonore.png\" alt=\"Jalie's Eleonore pull-on jeans pattern cover\" width=\"483\" height=\"554\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/front-cover-of-Eleonore.png 483w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/front-cover-of-Eleonore-349x400.png 349w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">When the fabric arrived, I checked the actual stretch against the pattern icon, there wasn\u2019t quite enough, so I went up one size.\u00a0 This fabric is quite \u201cbusy\u201d so I skipped the faux fly and combined the back and the yoke into one pattern piece. Most of my seams were serged using a 4-thread overlock stitch, and my top-stitching was done with regular sewing thread, using a \u201ctriple-stitch\u201d lengthened to 3mm, built into my sewing machine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9304 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Eleonore-jeans-480x720.jpg\" alt=\"part 1 of the 3-piece mini capsule, the completed jeans\" width=\"480\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Eleonore-jeans-480x720.jpg 480w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Eleonore-jeans-267x400.jpg 267w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Eleonore-jeans-1025x1536.jpg 1025w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Eleonore-jeans-755x1132.jpg 755w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Eleonore-jeans.jpg 1223w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">They turned out GREAT and will become part of my Spring\/Summer wardrobe.<\/p>\n<h3>Sewing the Tops<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Upon inspection of the <a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/products\/crinkled-stretch-gauze-alaia-hot-pink?_pos=1&amp;_sid=e5751c578&amp;_ss=r\">Stretch Gauze fabric<\/a>, it is a woven gauzy kind of fabric with elastic thread woven into it, which you can see on the wrong side. It&rsquo;s very soft to the touch.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9305 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3107-540x400.jpg\" alt=\"the back side of Stretch Gauze, showing the woven-in elastic thread\" width=\"540\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3107-540x400.jpg 540w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3107-972x720.jpg 972w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3107-1536x1138.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3107-2048x1517.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3107-755x559.jpg 755w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The way I pre-washed these cotton fabrics caused them to pucker up and become very dimensional.\u00a0 In order to cut the sleeveless version <a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/products\/jalie-pattern-3352-dolman-tops?_pos=1&amp;_sid=6a5a669ab&amp;_ss=r\">Dolman<\/a> out of the 1 meter of pink fabric I had, I steamed, flattened and stretched it quite a bit.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9308 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Dolman-cover.png\" alt=\"Jalie's Dolman top pattern cover\" width=\"515\" height=\"641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Dolman-cover.png 515w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Dolman-cover-321x400.png 321w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">That also means I have to remember to not put it into the drier or it will likely shrink back up. The selvedge became the hem.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9307 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3109-725x370.jpg\" alt=\"the ruffly selvedge of the stretch gauze, which I used as the hem\" width=\"725\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3109-725x370.jpg 725w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3109-1280x654.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3109-1536x785.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3109-2048x1046.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_3109-755x386.jpg 755w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 725px) 100vw, 725px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For the white top, instead of the Dolman, I used Jalie 2805 \u201cWomen\u2019s Tee Shirts\u201c. The fabric was folded on-grain and I was able to get all the pieces out of 1 meter. I DID have to make the sleeves quite short though. The neckline has been lowered a bit to suit me better. The neckband was done the same way as on the fuchsia one, cut 2 inches wide and 80% of the neck at the sewing line.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For the white top, instead of the Dolman, I used <a href=\"https:\/\/fabricville.com\/products\/jalie-pattern-2805-women-s-t-shirts?_pos=1&amp;_sid=79568c950&amp;_ss=r\">Jalie 2805 \u00ab\u00a0Women\u2019s Tee Shirts\u00a0\u00bb<\/a>.\u00a0 The pattern pieces are smaller so I could play tetris with them on the fabric.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9309 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Womens-tee-cover.png\" alt=\"Jalie's Women's T-shirt pattern cover\" width=\"522\" height=\"651\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Womens-tee-cover.png 522w, https:\/\/blog.fabricville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Womens-tee-cover-321x400.png 321w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 522px) 100vw, 522px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The fabric was folded on-grain and I was able to get all the pieces out of 1 meter. For both the sleeves and the bottom. I couldn\u2019t press it or it flattened. My solution was to first serge the edges with my differential cranked up to 2.
